John,

I wrote an op-ed in The San Diego Union-Tribune about the progress being made to remove nuclear waste from San Onofre. You can read about it here.

Since taking office, my team has worked tirelessly to remove the spent nuclear fuel from San Onofre. We’ve gathered experts, made inroads with the U.S. Department of Energy, and even established a bipartisan caucus in Congress committed to solving this challenge. Now -- for the first time in over a decade -- the federal government has a workable plan in place to establish interim storage sites for the spent fuel.

Take a moment this morning to read my op-ed.

As your habitually impatient representative, I’ll be pushing for continued progress on San Onofre as soon as possible. Of course, none of this will be easy or happen overnight. But with your support, there’s finally a light at the end of the tunnel.

Thanks,

Mike
