The first Republican candidate just announced their campaign to challenge Eric Sorensen in Illinois' 17th District!

While 2024 may seem like a ways off, the GOP is wasting no time trying to flip this seat red. We had a hunch this was coming, but an early challenge means we'll need to spend even more time defending against attacks.

This Sunday's end-of-month deadline has just taken on a new urgency. We set out to raise $15,000 in online contributions before April comes to a close, and we're counting on your support, friend! Will you chip in $3 or more now that Eric officially has an opponent running against him?

Experts from all over agree that IL-17 will be one of the closest races in the entire country. In the last election, the GOP's network of super PACs spent millions against us, and we were outraised by our opponent significantly. Eric still came out on top, but only by a few percentage points.

We say this a lot, but it bears repeating: grassroots support from individual donors like YOU was our best firewall against the GOP’s attacks. It’s literally how we won this seat, and if we’re going to keep it, we’ll need that same level of support.
