The evidence is mounting, John: Republicans in the Oklahoma legislature forced an anti-trans bill through and censured Rep. Mauree Turner, the first non-binary state representative, for offering support to a protestor.
Meanwhile, in states like Florida, Ron DeSantis and Republicans are attacking our First Amendment rights to protest with legislation intended to silence voices in the media who disagree with them.
They continue to take away our freedoms and undermine our democracy.
Dissenters have a right to speak up and protest. Officials have the right and the responsibility to advocate with and on behalf of their constituents.
This playbook is nothing new for the GOP. Silencing the opposition has been Republicans’ MO for years – we’ve seen it in their consistent acts of voter suppression. Enough is enough.
