John, I recently sat down with a reporter at the SFGate to talk about this Senate campaign and an interesting question came up.
As a progressive running for Senate in the most progressive state in the nation, what do I believe makes me stand out in this election?
And the answer comes down to a matter of record.
Who has the best record of actually making progress? Because being progressive must mean you’re able to make progress, and get things done.
I believe that my record in this regard is second to none.
I’ve passed dozens of bills with Democratic and Republican governors and presidents.
Bills establishing and expanding the Metro Gold Line light rail in Los Angeles.
Legislation establishing our early earthquake warning system throughout California and the West Coast.
Bills guaranteeing up-to-date textbooks in schools — long before MAGA Republicans sought to ban books and erase our history.
Bills providing a patient bill of rights and unprecedented funding for juvenile justice prevention programs.
Bills stopping nuclear proliferation and strengthening press freedom.
I’ve been in the middle of these fights for years and have always worked to get things done. Especially when it’s hard. Californians expect that in their Senator.
With the last decade testing our democracy like never before, I’ve led the fight to defend it. To defend voting rights and our institutions. Our nation’s most populous state deserves one of our democracy’s greatest champions. I will always work to carry that legacy forward.
John, if these values resonate with you, and you are ready to help me continue to make progress together in the Senate, then I am humbly asking you to add $10, $25, or even $50 in support ahead of my crucial fundraising deadline tomorrow. These fights really are important, and our success depends on whether you choose to be a part of the effort.
