Dear Mr. xxxxxx:
While we await the May flowers blooming after the April showers, I would like to bring you an update on the last month of work from both Washington and the Fourth District. We’ve made great strides in several areas and are excited about our Congressional Art Competition winners!
PROTECTING FEMALE ATHLETES
Last week, the House of Representatives passed the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act of 2023. This bill states that sex in the athletic context must be recognized based only on a person’s reproductive biology and genetics at birth.
As a leader on values issues in Congress, I believe this bill strengthens the law’s existing protections for women, ensures a level playing field for female athletes, and protects the law from further radical regulations from the Biden Administration.
I encourage the Senate to bring this important piece of legislation to the floor and hope that we can continue to protect our female athletes as Title IX originally intended.
FIRST 100 DAYS OF THE 118TH CONGRESS
As April 17th marked the first one hundred days of the new Congress, here’s a look at what we have accomplished so far:
-Repealed Biden’s 87,000 IRS Agents
-Ended Proxy Voting on the House Floor
-Reopened the People’s House
-Eliminated the Military Vaccine Mandate
-Stopped the Selling of the Strategic Petroleum Reserve to China
-Passed the Parent’s Bill of Rights
-Passed the Lower Energy Costs Act
-Nullified D.C.’s Soft on Crime Bill
-Terminated the COVID-19 National Emergency
-Established the Bipartisan House Select Committee on China
-Passed the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act of 2032
While we have accomplished a lot, there is far more to be done as we look at cutting wasteful government spending in the Appropriations process and ensuring the Biden Administration is held accountable for their failed policies of the past two years.
Limit, Save, Grow Act
Speaking of cutting wasteful spending, the House GOP also passed the Limit, Save and Grow Act this week. This bill is unlike anything Congress has ever done when it comes to our borrowing limit. In the past, raising the debt ceiling came with no strings attached. This bill says those days are over. We must commit to getting spending under control.
We all agree the U.S. must meet its financial obligations. But the days of using the taxpayers money as a credit card must end. And increasing the debt ceiling must come with agreements to roll back out of control leftist spending. This bill does just that.
COMBATTING CHINESE ESPIONAGE
Just this week, I questioned FBI Director Christopher Wray on China’s illicit activities against the United States, specifically their intellectual property theft. I am committed to safeguarding our industrial base, national security, and space economy from Chinese aggression. Watch our exchange here:
