At No Labels, we often remind ourselves that no one really knows with any certainty what’s going to happen in politics. Almost no one thought Barack Obama would win the nomination in 2008 and even fewer predicted that Donald Trump would win the general election in 2016.

As we entered 2023, not many expected No Labels and the commonsense majority we represent, to burst onto the scene. But that’s exactly what’s happening. Today, two highly regarded columnists, Peggy Noonan from The Wall Street Journal ([link removed] ) and George Will from The Washington Post ([link removed] ) , weighed in on our movement and the prospect of an independent unity presidential ticket gaining traction in 2024.

Here’s what Peggy Noonan, a former speechwriter for Ronald Reagan had to say: ([link removed] )

“The centrist group No Labels says it’s provisionally attempting to get on the ballot in all 50 states. We’ll see how that works. But a third party, if it comes, could have real and surprising power in this cycle. I am the only person I know who thinks this but, again, look at peoples’ faces when you say it will be Trump or Biden… Third-party enthusiasts tend to be moderate, sober-minded. Such people are almost by definition not swept by the romance of history. But we are living in a prolonged crazy time in American politics. Anything can happen now. Really, anything. I wonder if they know it.”

Over at The Washington Post, George Will wrote: ([link removed] )

“No Labels says its 2024 project is an “insurance policy” — “an infrastructure for an independent” — to protect the electorate from the failure of the political market to supply what there is a demand for: fresh presidential talent. Then 2024 might bring the most dramatically nonbinary election since the Democratic-Republican framing of presidential politics began in 1856… One or both of the major parties might, depending on their calculations of a third candidate’s appeal, accuse No Labels of being a spoiler. Let those parties try to explain how today’s politics could be spoiled.”

These are testaments to the importance of our work and the growing power of our movement.
