Transit service update: Route 162 temporarily suspended weekdays through May 5

King County Metro has *temporarily suspended weekday Route 162* *from May 1-5*, and continues to cancel some individual weekday bus trips due to staff and bus availability. All weekend routes and trips are expected to operate as scheduled. Damage in the Downtown Seattle Transit Tunnel also is disrupting Sound Transit Link 1 Line service, and riders are encouraged to allow additional travel time to transfer to shuttle trains or alternative bus service. Route 162 riders have alternatives available during this temporary suspension.

Fleet availability continues to be a challenge and maintenance crews continue to focus on making repairs and returning buses to service. We also are working with vendors to improve and stabilize the supply chain challenges affecting our industry. We appreciate your patience while we complete this important work. We also continue to face workforce availability challenges and are?actively recruiting [ [link removed] ], training and promoting operators to deliver our service.

To support riders better, we also are sending email and text Transit Alerts in advance in cases where there are known, recurring canceled trips for the coming week.

International Survey: 2023 IBBG Customer Satisfaction Survey [ [link removed] ]

Metro celebrates Arab American Heritage month

As we approach the end of April, I would like to take a moment to recognize Arab American Heritage Month, honor our Arab American colleagues at Metro, and celebrate the contributions of Arab Americans throughout history.

Earlier this month, Executive Dow Constantine?proclaimed April as Arab American Heritage Month [ [link removed] ]?in King County. It has been observed during the month of April since 2017 and in 2021 President Joe Biden issued a national proclamation in support of the observance. An?estimated 3.7 million Americans have Arab roots [ [link removed] ], with ancestries traced to 22 countries in the Middle East and North Africa including: Lebanon, Syria, Egypt, Palestine, Morocco, Iraq, Jordan, Yemen, Bahrain, Tunisia, Algeria, Sudan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and others.
