Team,
The North Carolina Supreme Court has overturned their previous decision in Harper v. Hall — ruling that partisan gerrymandering does not violate the state constitution.
It's an unprecedented move overruling an earlier decision from only a few months ago. Let us be perfectly clear: Nothing about the underlying facts or applicable law has changed. The only thing that has changed is the makeup of the NC State Supreme Court since last November's election.

After our movement helped achieve victories for fair maps and voting rights in states across the country, Republicans have responded by working to elect justices who they believe will help advance their anti-democratic agenda. Take Wisconsin, for example. Earlier this year, right-wing donors made record-breaking investments in an attempt to elect their preferred justice. But thanks to grassroots movements like ours, democracy prevailed, and voters rejected their selected candidate by a commanding margin.
Still, the GOP isn't slowing down. In fact, the president of the National Republican Redistricting Trust said “These [state supreme court] races are going to be the next big political frontier out there.”
Republicans are targeting these races because they know if they can't win votes, they have to manipulate maps. The NDRC will continue combating these anti-democratic efforts. Will you pitch in to support our fight for fairness across the country?
