Team,
I’m so proud to serve as New York’s Lieutenant Governor. But many of you may not know my story so I wanted to take a minute to reintroduce myself.
I was born and raised in Schenectady, New York. My parents worked hard at General Electric to provide for us – and that hard-working spirit stayed with me throughout my life.
I attended Colgate University in Hamilton, New York, where I received a Rhodes Scholarship to study at Oxford. After returning from Oxford I received a law degree from Harvard.
I went on to become an attorney, and was proud to do pro bono work fighting for criminal justice reform. My work inspired me to run for Congress, where I became the first person of color to represent upstate New York.
During my second term in Congress – with a record of fighting for affordable healthcare, a clean environment, public education, small businesses, family-owned farms, our veterans and more – I was appointed Lieutenant Governor for the state of New York.
As Lt. Gov., I'm proud of the work I do alongside Gov. Hochul everyday. But without you none of this would be possible.
Friend, my team tells me I need to make a big fundraising push by the end of April (just a couple days left) so I’m turning to you: Can you contribute $5 or more today to become a part of my story and help me fight for a better New York? »
