But instead of investing in the people they were elected to serve, D.C. Republicans are trying to cut crucial programs for working families while giving handouts to corporations and the wealthy. The American people deserve better.

The GOP's shameful budget proposal is a reminder of what happens when the person holding the gavel doesn't put Americans first. It's why I'm fighting back alongside my Democratic colleagues in the House to make sure Americans' best interests are a top priority.

I've always been guided by the principle that I will work with anyone, anywhere, to make progress for the American people. But I refuse to budge on a proposal that could result in three-quarters of a million Americans losing their jobs.

The GOP wants us to forget that they raised the debt ceiling THREE times for the last administration. They want to hold our economy hostage and threaten a default.
