Dear Friend,

Last week, President Trump signed the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) into law, a historic moment for our three nations and a big win for North Texas workers and businesses. USMCA will provide much-needed certainty and stability so that our economy can continue to thrive.

Since I first arrived in Congress, securing this agreement has been a top priority and I worked tirelessly to ensure Congressional leaders knew how important this was to Texas. Texas is a top trade state and USMCA will bolster trade with Mexico and Canada, which supports more than 36,000 jobs right here in North Texas. Additionally, by strengthening worker protections, USMCA will shift the paradigm and create a new standard for future trade agreements.

Throughout this process, it was important to me to hear from those most affected by the trade agreement. I talked to businesses big and small, as well as workers and economic experts from across North Texas, and held roundtables and town halls on this important topic.

Rep. Allred with David and Patti Mitchell and the staff of Mitchell enterprises, an HVAC company in Richardson that depends on trade for their operations.

I also worked tirelessly behind the scenes to urge my colleagues tasked with negotiating this deal to get something done this year. In addition, I met with government officials from Mexico as well as U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer on several occasions to convey the importance of this agreement to North Texas.

I thank my colleagues on both sides of the aisle for putting partisan politics aside to deliver for the American people and do the job we were elected to do.
