John – This week, I introduced a resolution condemning Mexico’s President for threatening to meddle in American elections to stop legislation that would target cartels. I also continued to push for Republican leaders to bring my legislation to the floor to authorize military force against the cartels and target their finances. As always, thanks for your support. Now, here’s your brief. CONDEMNING AMLO'S RECKLESS THREATS CLICK HERE OR ON THE IMAGE ABOVE TO READ MORE Instead of fighting the drug cartels that are killing Mexicans and Americans, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) of Mexico has focused on fighting people like me who actually want to stop these murderous thugs. I’ve introduced legislation that would authorize military force against the cartels and go after their finances. In response, AMLO and his cronies have attacked me personally, victim-blamed Americans killed by fentanyl, and vowed to interfere in American elections to stop legislation that would target the cartels. That’s why this week I introduced a resolution condemning AMLO’s reckless threats. Attempts to intimidate American voters or intervene in our democratic process will not be tolerated. Every Member of Congress should support this resolution to show a united front against AMLO’s rhetoric and his failure to stop cartels in his country from mass murdering Americans with fentanyl. Republican leadership must bring this resolution to the floor immediately and I need your help to do that. Michael Waltz, R-Fla., and Dan Crenshaw, R-Texas, that would authorize the U.S. military to take down Mexican drug cartels. "I would do that," Trump told Breitbart News when asked about the lawmakers' recently-proposed Authorization for the Use of Military Force (AUMF) legislation.” Now the DEA, FBI, national security leaders, and President Trump have all said an AUMF would be an effective tool to stop the Mexican drug cartels from killing Americans. It has wide support across the ideological spectrum of the House Republican conference. So what’s the holdup? House Republican leaders must take action against the cartels immediately. We’ve held the majority for four months and haven’t taken any action to address the cartels that have operational control of our southern border. We also must pass additional legislation I’ve introduced to target cartel finances and increase criminal penalties for cartel members and anyone who aids or abets them. Your voice matters. If you agree that Congress must take strong action against the cartels that are killing tens of thousands of Americans every year, please sign the petition below calling on House Republican leadership to bring my cartel bills to the floor NOW.
