STANDING UP FOR IOWA BIOFUELS AND FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY
The Iowa delegation will never waver in our support for Iowa farmers, Iowa biofuels, and Iowa values.
I’m proud that we secured vital provisions to protect biofuels while slashing reckless spending to reduce our nation's $32 trillion debt.
Now, it’s time for President Biden to get with the program, come to the negotiating table, and end his wasteful spending agenda.

OUR WAYS AND MEANS FIELD HEARING IN GEORGIA
Last week, I was in Peachtree City, Georgia with my Ways and Means colleagues to hear from small business owners about the challenges they are facing. A major concern is that many pro-growth policies passed in the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 have expired or will soon expire.
Our main street businesses -- which are the backbone of our economy -- need certainty and support to grow and thrive. On behalf of the entire committee, I assured our nation's small businesses that Republicans are working to reauthorize these vital policies.

INVESTING IN AGRICULTURE RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT
China allocates roughly $10 billion towards agriculture research and development, which is twice the amount that the U.S. spends. That’s why I introduced the Advancing Cutting Edge Agriculture Act to increase investment in American agriculture.
This legislation is vital for the U.S. to stay competitive on the world stage.

MEETING WITH TOM MULHOLLAND FROM MALVERN
I enjoyed meeting with Tom Mulholland from Malvern whose grocery store — which was in the family for over 100 years and the only one in town — burned down last year.
Instead of calling it quits, he is rebuilding his store, which will open next year. His story is inspiring and representative of our strong Iowa values.

MY LETTER TO PRESIDENT BIDEN DEMANDING HE ABANDON HIS PLANS TO CAP LIKE-KIND EXCHANGES
President Biden’s destructive proposal to cap like-kind exchanges for our farmers, producers, and main street businesses would devastate our economy and rural communities around America.
Like-kind exchanges allow our farmers and small businesses to expand their operations, hire new employees, drive economic growth up and down our main streets, and pass their farms and businesses on to the next generation.
I'm proud to lead 21 of my Republican colleagues in demanding President Biden abandon this ridiculous tax-and-spend plan.

PRESIDENT BIDEN'S BLOATED BUDGET PROPOSAL SPELLS DISASTER FOR MAIN STREET AMERICA
President Biden’s nearly $7-trillion budget proposal would crush our families, farmers, manufacturers, and main street businesses with $5 trillion in higher taxes and an additional $1.7 trillion in spending each year. Even worse, his budget would increase our national debt by $18 trillion over the next ten years!
Amid record inflation and high energy costs, we should be cutting taxes to grow our economy and ease the burden our families are currently facing.

MEETING WITH THE IOWA CATTLEMEN'S ASSOCIATION
I had a productive conversation with the Iowa Cattlemen's Association about livestock insurance provisions in the upcoming Farm Bill and the destructive impact of WOTUS on our cattle producers and farmers in the 4th District.
Iowa cattle producers will always have a strong voice and an ally in me.

WASTEFUL GOVERNMENT SPENDING IS HURTING SAVINGS ACCOUNTS
President Biden's wasteful spending agenda has forced American families to pay more for gas and groceries and cut back on saving for retirement. His continued spending proposals are unsustainable.
As a strong, fiscal conservative, I am focused on slashing reckless spending and growing our economy.

MY WEEKLY COLUMN: PROTECTING IOWA BIOFUELS AND PROMOTING FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY
This week, House Republicans passed our Limit, Save, Grow Act of 2023 to end reckless spending and reduce our nearly $32 trillion debt.
Our proposal, which is the only honest offer in Washington, would slash $4.8 trillion in wasteful spending from the federal budget over the next ten years, defund President Biden’s army of 87,000 new IRS agents, cancel the Biden Administration’s $400 billion student-loan bailout, and recover billions in unspent COVID dollars.
It also incorporates legislation to stop President Biden’s unchecked executive orders – which have cost taxpayers roughly $1.5 trillion – and includes my amendment to ban China from buying American farmland suitable for ethanol and biodiesel production.
