Friend,

We just finished an extraordinary legislative session. The laws we passed are going to keep Washington state on the path of progress and prosperity -- see for yourself.

🏘️ Expanding affordable housing. We're investing over $1 billion over the next two years in confronting the housing crisis. We also passed laws to increase housing density, accelerate permitting, reduce construction backlogs, and address historical barriers to homeownership among people of color.

🏥 Protecting reproductive freedom. In the face of attacks on abortion access, we passed laws to protect patients' personal data -- and to protect abortion providers and patients from legal action from out-of-state extremists. We also secured the funding to purchase and distribute abortion medication if far-right judges continue their push to ban it nationally.

🚫 Reforming gun safety. As students and families demanded meaningful gun legislation, we delivered. We banned assault weapons, required safety training and a 10-day waiting period for gun purchases, and strengthened accountability for gun manufacturers and retailers.

📚 Investing in public education. We passed $2.9 billion in new spending for K-12 schools, ensuring students have access to nurses, counselors, social workers, special education, and -- for thousands more students -- free meals.

🌎 Implementing climate solutions. We continued leading the nation in clean energy policy by passing new laws to accelerate our climate progress. We made it easier to execute clean energy projects and strengthened our clean energy workforce, including with the creation of a Climate Corps.

And that's not all -- we improved behavioral health services, invested in public safety, made our state's insulin price caps permanent, improved protections for trans people, and so much more.

There's still much more to do. We won't solve the housing crisis overnight. And, unfortunately, the legislature failed to pass the drug possession legislation we need. That's unacceptable, and I'll be working to make sure we get that done.

We have so much to be proud of -- and believe me when I say none of it would have happened without your support, your advocacy, and your unwavering commitment to our values.

Very truly yours,

Jay
