Ranking Member Scott Condemns Inclusion of SNAP Work Requirements in Republican Debt Limit Framework
|
|
This month, House Agriculture Committee Ranking Member David Scott released the following statement in response to Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s debt limit framework which includes additional punitive work requirements to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP):
"Let me be perfectly clear: holding food assistance hostage for those who depend on it, including 15.3 million of our children, 5.8 million of our seniors, and 1.2 million of our veterans, in exchange for increasing the debt limit is a non-starter. The ransom note that Speaker McCarthy unveiled in front of a crowd of Wall Street bankers today is dead on arrival." |

Congressman David Scott Announces Bipartisan Legislation to Diversify STEM Education

Congressman Scott was joined by Representatives Mark Takano (CA-41), Drew Ferguson (GA-03), and Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-01) in announcing the reintroduction of H.R. 2475, the Making Advances Kinetic, Education, Research and Skills (MAKERS) Act of 2023.
“From developing a prototype to inventing the next new piece of technology, makerspaces allow students to experiment with hands-on equipment while learning the skills needed to excel in the STEM workforce,” said Congressman David Scott. “With this legislation, students will be able to learn a concept in the classroom and then put that concept to use in their schools’ makerspace, helping the student master the material from start to finish. I’m proud that my bipartisan bill embraces inclusion and hones in on diversifying the STEM field.” |
