The Center for Reproductive Rights

Dear Team,

Every day, people's rights are being chipped away by the endless onslaught of restrictions that have been imposed on access to abortion care. In the first six months of 2019, 15 states introduced 6-week abortion bans. Five have signed them into law. But there is one bill that could stop them all.

It's called the Women's Health Protection Act, and we need your help to pass it.

Anti-abortion state politicians continue to introduce and pass legislative restrictions on abortion, which we continue to challenge in court. We're also supporting the Women's Health Protection Act, which would create a federal safeguard to protect against these medically unnecessary restrictions and bans. The time to end the harmful restrictions that block and delay access to abortion is NOW.

Tell your lawmaker to join the more than 200 members of Congress who have signed on to the Women's Health Protection Act.

Despite the constitutional protections of Roe v. Wade, abortion is a right in name only for far too many. Many pregnant people have to drive hundreds of miles, take time off work, and empty their bank accounts just to end a pregnancy. Why? Because over the past 8 years, the anti-abortion movement has passed over 400 restrictions designed to lower the quality of care, make it harder for clinics to operate, create gross inequalities in access to health care, and shame those seeking abortion.

Enough is enough.

These restrictions are causing real harm and blocking people from getting the health care they need. Support for Roe v. Wade may be at an all-time high, but Roe is not enough. We need a federal safeguard that explicitly prohibits disingenuous restrictions on abortion care... and we have one. Congress just has to pass it.

The Women's Health Protection Act would protect access to essential reproductive health care and the constitutional rights of all people. Tell your legislator to protect the right to abortion by becoming a co-sponsor today.

With you by our side, we will win this fight. Thank you for standing up for our rights.

In solidarity,

Center for Reproductive Rights
