Dear John,

You’re no stranger to tailpipe pollution. Whether it’s a plume of smoke from an 18-wheeler, or the muffler of a diesel pick-up, you’ve seen harmful emissions firsthand. So it’s no surprise that the transportation sector is the nation’s largest source of climate pollution.

In fact, cars, trucks and heavy-duty vehicles are responsible for billions of tons of climate pollution each and every year, making up almost a third of U.S. emissions! That’s why we applaud the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) latest proposal to tackle tailpipe pollution from big-rigs, trucks, trailers and buses.

The EPA just released a proposal to put heavy-duty vehicles on a cleaner path! Now they need to hear from you. Submit a public comment to build a zero-emission transportation sector powered by electric semi-trucks, school buses and other heavy-duty vehicles! [link removed]

If approved, EPA’s new emissions standards for medium- and heavy-duty vehicles would significantly reduce climate and other harmful air pollution. It would ensure that up to 50% of all new urban delivery and freight vehicles will run on zero-emission technology. That means cleaner delivery trucks, buses and 18-wheelers filling our roads.

This will help communities across the U.S. breathe easier, unlocking significant benefits for public health, especially in communities that have borne the greatest burden of poor air quality. By reducing tailpipe pollution we won’t just protect the climate, we’ll also slash smog-forming nitrogen oxides and lung-and heart-harming particulates. And it makes a big difference!

In fact, a recent analysis by the EPA suggests that the new standards will slash nearly 1.8 billion metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions from 2027 through 2055 — and would significantly reduce NOx, PM and VOC emissions during that time.

But it all starts with your support. Take action by submitting a public comment and together we’ll put clean trucks in the fast lane! [link removed]

Thank you for taking action,
