As you know, I suspended my campaign just a few weeks ago, but of course, I remain deeply concerned about the future of Philadelphia. Our city is at an inflection point and we need a leader who can meet this moment — Cherelle is that leader.

Why Cherelle? A few very important things stand out for me:

1. She is the tough-on-crime candidate this city needs: Public safety and gun violence is the #1 issue facing Philadelphians and part of the solution needs to be bringing back real consequences for owning illegal weapons and adding more cops to neighborhood beats. Cherelle will get it done.

2. She won’t shy away from hard truths: 74% of the victims of shootings look just like me, my son Julian, and her son Langston. We need a Mayor who not only understands the fear of parenting a black child in America but who will speak those fears outloud for every parent — to protect every child. Cherelle says the things that need to be said.

3. She’s a convener: You all know I believe in the power of AND. Cherelle also believes in bringing people from all walks of life to the table to find those both-and solutions. We need that if we’re going to address poverty and improve education in Philadelphia.
