In the ongoing debate over how the U.S. should meet challenges at our southern border, what’s missing from the conversation is the critical need to build legal pathways. [link removed]

FWD.us believes that a massive component is missing from the conversation around migration: the critical need to build legal pathways — even though it’s the key to solving many of our border problems.

Friend,

The United States has a fundamentally failed approach to immigration, one without working legal immigration channels and a system that pushes people into cruel options that spur chaos.

The Biden Administration should use its authority to continue to create a greater diverse set of legal immigration pathways, as well as work with Congress where needed, to build a prosperous, secure, orderly, and humane approach to migration. In the ongoing debates over how the U.S. should seize the opportunities and meet challenges around migration and at the U.S.-Mexico border, a massive component missing from this conversation is the critical need to build legal pathways — even though it's the key to creating a truly functional system.

Please learn more about this critical issue and FWD.us' proposed framework to address a new path forward for approaching migration. [link removed]

As the number of displaced people continues to rise, it is imperative that we create legal avenues for immigrants and asylum seekers. That’s why FWD.us is strongly advocating for change: we need a modern and humane system that allows people to come to our country safely and legally.

While actually creating these legal pathways is the most important thing this administration can and must do, it alone will not solve all of the immigration issues our country faces. But without this step, there will be only bad options.

We urge you to read FWD.us' new immigration framework: "A New Pathway Forward for the United States." Please share this information with your friends, family, and community to raise awareness about the urgent need for the U.S. to create modern and humane legal immigration avenues for immigrants and asylum seekers. America is at its best when we welcome those in need of protection and those who want to come to our country to work, study, or be reunited with their families, regardless of where they were born or the color of their skin.

Creating functioning legal pathways — for work, refuge, asylum, family-based immigration, and more — is best for Americans here today, best for immigrants, and the single most important step to cut down on the very pressure and perception of chaos at the border that Americans say they want to see change. Moreover, the research makes clear the American public supports this approach.

Thank you for supporting immigrants today,

Todd Schulte
President, FWD.us
