If the Super Bowl is America’s unofficial national day of celebration, Earth Day is the collective yawn that brings a shrug. No recipes offer Earth Day chips and dips to serve when friends and beloveds gather in celebration of the miracle of a living planet. Because they don’t. Not even ours. For the two of us environmentalists—one of us nominally Jewish, the other a recovering Catholic—we find the ill-defined nature of the only day honoring the place that makes life itself possible more than a little sacrilegious. So, on this 53rd Earth Day we thought it useful to pose what a real Earth Day should represent and how it could form a central time for a new approach to worship...So, what would an earth-reverent belief system look like with Earth Day at its center? To begin with, let’s take a look at
what established religions get right and where we might take a cue. Perhaps the first step might be, um, unearthing the nature-centered origins of our existing religious holidays...In short, we must make nature central to our belief system with Earth Day or any number of earth-focused ceremonial days serving as regular reminders of what we owe our home planet"

You can be worried about carbon emissions, or you can support 100% "renewables" but doing both isn't going to get you anywhere.

(4/25/23) reports: "West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin (D) is stepping up his feud with President Biden by threatening to support a repeal of Biden’s landmark climate and prescription drug reform bill, the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), which Manchin largely crafted last summer. Manchin thought he had a deal with the Biden administration to allow more investment in fossil fuel production over the next decade, but he doesn’t think the president is holding up his end of the bargain. 'If the administration does not honor what they said they would do and continue to liberalize what we are supposed to invest in over the next 10 years, I will do everything in my power to prevent that from happening. And if they don’t change, then I would vote to repeal my own bill,' Manchin told Fox News host Sean Hannity in an interview Monday evening. There’s no chance of a repeal bill passing Congress before 2025 as Democrats control the White House and Senate and view Biden’s climate investments and drug reforms
as a major achievement. Manchin faces a tough reelection race next year in a state former President Trump won by large margins in 2016 and 2020. West Virginia’s popular Republican governor, Jim Justice, is expected to run for Manchin’s seat."
