On April 14, Denise Larson and Shreya Agarwala of Columbia Law School won the final round of the Williams Institute's 17th Annual Moot Court Competition. Sophia Singh and Alexandra Meyer of Fordham Law School took home second place. The final round was presided over by JudgeStaci M. Yandle (U.S. District Court Southern District of Illinois), Judge William E. Weinberger (Superior Court of California, County of Los Angeles), and Judge Andi Mudryk (Superior Court of California, County of Sacramento) at the Williams Institute's 22nd Annual Update.
This year's problem addressed the constitutionality of laws regulating conversion therapy and gender-affirming care. Twenty-nine teams competed in four preliminary rounds. Katarina Churich of Northwestern Pritzker School of Law won the Best Oral Advocate Award, and Gustavo Berrizbeitia & Abigail Bessler of Yale Law School won the Best Written Brief Award.
