After years of advocacy from our team, partner organizations, and alongside impacted people, we’ve achieved a monumental victory: The Biden administration is lifting health coverage restrictions for DACA recipients, finally allowing them to access the care they need.

As the pandemic made starkly clear, the health of our communities depends on all of us having access to quality medical care. Public health insurance programs are a lifeline to so many people, but DACA recipients have been unjustly excluded for over a decade. This recent announcement is a critical victory that will rectify this years-long injustice.

Our fight, of course, does not end here. DACA is still under threat in the courts and Congress has yet to act on a legislative solution. We are continuing to keep our eyes on the prize – citizenship for immigrant youth – while also ensuring that this new win is implemented fairly and effectively, so that everyone who is eligible knows about and can benefit from their new health care options.
