Governor Hochul’s budget makes transformative investments to meet the
needs of all New Yorkers. Here are just a few of the highlights:

— Improving public safety by providing judges greater discretion to set
bail for serious crimes, and investing in gun violence prevention,
prosecutors, defense funding, and State Police academy classes and
troopers

— Investing in mental health care by expanding inpatient and outpatient
services, boosting insurance coverage, and investing $1 billion to rebuild
our mental health care system and make sure no one falls through the
cracks

— Strengthening the healthcare system by investing $1 billion in capital
funding and expanding Medicaid coverage

— Protecting reproductive health care by investing in abortion providers,
expanding access to abortion care for students, and increasing Medicaid
reimbursement for abortion care

— Record funding for P-12 schools and higher education, including funding
for new capital projects for SUNY and CUNY

— Combating climate change by implementing zero-emission requirements for
new buildings and expanding the New York Power Authority's ability to
support our state's climate goals

Governor Kathy Hochul is making good on her promise to make New York a
stronger, more prosperous, inclusive, and welcoming state.
