GRANTEE SPOTLIGHT
KIDS KICKING CANCER

We are thrilled to share the achievements of one of our Solution Grant recipients, Kids Kicking Cancer

. Livestrong funded its "Kids Kickin’ it in the Kitchen" program emphasizing nutrition and community-building for young cancer survivors and their families.
"Without Livestrong, this program would never have come into being," said Hillery Chakos, Director of National Philanthropy. "We have always included 'building healthful habits' into our programming, but we would never have created a pediatric program focusing primarily on good nutrition as a fun, fulfilling activity. Livestrong's emphasis on good nutrition inspired us to build this program as an important adjunct to our Martial Arts Therapeutic protocol."
These Livestrong-supported cooking classes—and the wonderful community interactions they provide—are bright spots in some very hard weeks for pediatric cancer survivors and their families. We love seeing the smiles on the faces of these young chefs.

HONOR HER JOURNEY THIS
MOTHER'S DAY
This Mother’s Day we honor the caregivers, the survivors, and the cheerleaders and think of those we lost too soon. Cancer is still the #2 leading cause of death among women today. This is where awareness, prevention, and action can have a life-saving impact. Take a minute to thank a mom and share these 3 tips:
Early screening for breast cancer is critical. Starting at age 40, women should prioritize a mammogram every year.
Skin cancers are the most common cancers affecting women. Wear a wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses, and at least 30 SPF when exposed to sun.
Moms are often the caregivers. Visit caregiver.org
