Fifty years ago, in 1970, my husband proudly sponsored the law that lowered the voting age to 18 from 21. The 18-year-old vote then was enshrined in the Constitution the next year.
To mark this significant 50th anniversary, the Kennedy Institute must raise $50,000 before March 3 – Super Tuesday – to underwrite a new exhibit titled Your Vote Matters. Will you make a gift today to help us reach our goal? A very generous donor has agreed to match the first $25,000 of contributions we receive for this important exhibit. If you donate now, your gift will have double the impact.

Your Vote Matters will encourage and inspire more of our citizens to register to vote and to be active participants in the voting process. This special exhibit will demonstrate the fundamental importance of voting and the mechanics of the voting process. It also will encourage critical thinking about challenging issues, such as voter suppression and equal representation. We've already made progress toward our goal – $2,500 has been matched. Please help us continue our progress toward $50,000. Will you make a gift in support of this exhibit and in support of the next generation of voters?

The exercise of the right to vote is fundamental to the success of our democracy. In Your Vote Matters, visitors will become familiar with ballots, practice the voting process, and – most importantly – they will be able to register to vote right here at the Institute. We are also pleased that 16-year-olds will be able to pre-register to vote in anticipation of their eligibility to cast a ballot on their 18th birthdays. We need your support to open this important exhibit. And remember, your donation will be doubled by a generous donor who is matching up to $25,000 of donations.

Government of the people, by the people, and for the people can only function as our founders intended if we have engaged and informed citizens who exercise their right to vote. The Kennedy Institute needs your help to continue inspiring the youth of today to become the political leaders of tomorrow.
Please donate to the Kennedy Institute today to support this timely voting exhibit and voter registration project. The first $25,000 of your donations will be matched dollar-for-dollar by a generous donor, doubling the power of your gift.
With great appreciation,
Victoria Reggie Kennedy
Co-Founder and President of the Board
