Dear John,
One of my favorite events is our yearly art competition for high school students in the 12th Congressional District. That's why I'm pleased to announce an extension of the deadline to enter the Congressional Art Competition to May 5th.
However, that means the deadline is a week away, so if you know any students who would be interested in submitting work, please let them know - and don't forget to share with their teachers!
Complete rules and submission guidelines are available at adams.house.gov/art23.
Each spring, the Congressional Institute sponsors a nationwide high school visual art competition to recognize and encourage artistic talent in the nation and in each congressional district. Since the Artistic Discovery competition began in 1982, more than 650,000 high school students have participated.
Students submit entries to their representative’s office, and panels of district artists select the winning entries. Winners are recognized both in their district and at an annual awards ceremony in Washington, DC. The winning works are displayed for one year at the U.S. Capitol.
Please click here to learn more about the Congressional Art Competition, and to share with your high school age students and your networks. I can't wait to see the amazing pieces that are submitted this year.
Sincerely,
Alma
Congresswoman Alma S. Adams, Ph.D.
