Republicans are gambling with the wellbeing of the U.S. economy — threatening to default on our debt at the expense of Americans working hard to make ends meet.

Kevin McCarthy just passed his bill holding the full faith and credit of the United States hostage by cutting a deal with the most extreme, right-wing MAGA members of Congress, coupling raising the debt limit with drastic cuts in benefits like food assistance programs.

Programs like SNAP are some of the best tools we have to support families just trying to put food on the table, but Republicans continue to play politics instead of just doing what’s right for working people.
