“Reproductive rights are at risk in the 2023 Virginia legislative elections” - The American Independent, 4/17/23

Friend, I want to talk to you about the state of reproductive rights here in Virginia.

First, in 2011, Virginia’s Republican General Assembly passed a law that made it substantially more difficult to seek an abortion in the Commonwealth.

Then, in 2020 when we had a Democratic Governor and total control of the House of Delegates and the Virginia Senate, we repealed all of the medically unnecessary restrictions to abortion care the VA GOP had created.

Now, after the overturning of Roe V. Wade last summer and abortion bans being enacted all over the country, the state of reproductive freedom in Virginia hangs in the balance of the November elections.

Contribute anything you can right now to help defend the Democratic majority in the Virginia Senate and take back the House of Delegates this November so we can protect reproductive rights in Virginia.

Virginia has been a battleground for reproductive rights for years, but now after the Supreme Court’s life-changing reversal of Roe V. Wade , it’s more important than ever that we make sure every person in the Commonwealth has access to the full spectrum of reproductive healthcare.

There is only one way to make this happen: Defend our Democratic majority in the Virginia Senate and secure a majority in the House of Delegates. I’m committed to campaigning for our Democratic candidates up and down the ballot in this November’s election. I know many of you reading this email have stepped up in the past, but I’m asking for your support again to help bring back a full pro-choice Democratic majority in Richmond.

So, if you’re with me, pitch in $5 to help my team reach our April fundraising goal so we can elect candidates to the General Assembly who will safeguard our reproductive freedoms.
