John —
For decades, they said it couldn't be done, but we’re making the impossible a reality for the people of Downriver and all who visit our community.
I'm so proud to announce that we have a deal to build an underpass on Allen Road in Woodhaven!
Make no mistake about it, this was a team effort: all levels of government coming together to negotiate and finalize a deal. I am so thankful for having had the opportunity to bring our government leaders together on such an important project.
Huge thanks to County Executive Warren Evans, Mayor Patty Odette, Congresswoman Debbie Dingell, and Sen. Stephanie Chang for working with us to make this project a reality.
With a total projected cost of $27 million, our deal incorporates the $12 million that Sen. Chang and I secured in the state budget and closes the gap with money committed from the county and city. Additional federal funds will go toward road construction underneath and around the bridge. After completion of a bid process, we are hopeful to break ground later this year.
Thank you for raising your voice on this issue. We wouldn't be here without you telling your stories.
