Lansing Police Officer Arraigned on Organized Retail Fraud Charges





*LANSING *-?Lansing Police Officer Gregory Tracy was arraigned yesterday on one count of Retail Fraud First and one count of Organized Retail Fraud, Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel announced.?

Tracy is alleged to have engaged in a retail fraud ?price switching? scheme between the dates of January 9, 2023, through April 3, 2023. Tracy is accused of switching the price on boxes of sports cards for lesser valued items, he would then attempt to sell the higher valued cards to others. Through these actions, Tracy is believed to have defrauded Meijer Corporation of over ten thousand dollars.

Detectives from the Michigan State Police Fraud Investigation Unit began investigating a series of retail fraud allegations in March 2023 and referred the matter to the Department of Attorney General?s Retail Fraud Unit after discovering evidence of over 65 separate incidents across the counties of Eaton, Ingham, Clinton, Ionia, Genesee, and Shiawassee.?

"Instances of organized retail fraud cost Michigan-owned businesses and consumers alike,? said Nessel. ?I appreciate the investigative work of both Meijer corporation and the Michigan State Police on this matter. My department began the Organized Retail Crime Unit in 2022 to crack down on this pervasive issue and will continue to hold bad actors accountable.??

Tracy was arraigned in the 54-B District Court in Ingham County.?
