Dear John,

Oregonians Shawn and Teresa sought a foster care license from the The Oregon Department of Human Services (DHS) but were denied because they wouldn't commit to providing “gender affirming care” to their hypothetical foster child who might come out as “transgender.” Shawn and Teresa also wouldn't commit to taking a girl in their foster care to get an abortion, all based on their sincerely-held Christian beliefs. So, when they were denied the opportunity to provide foster care, Shawn and Teresa approached PJI and now we’ve appealed this injustice on Constitutional grounds.

DHS is declaring that Christian beliefs are dangerous to kids and they're excluding Christians as potential foster parents who hold to their beliefs. DHS even produced materials, at taxpayer expense, which state that foster parents are not to talk about homosexuality as sin to their foster children.

The state of Oregon is brazenly rejecting US Supreme Court decisions and the rights of Christians who wish to be foster parents.

PJI will not back down in the face of this blatant discrimination and violation of religious rights and we will continue to represent and defend Shawn and Teresa at no charge. But we can’t do it without you. Our supporters make everything possible.

Will you support us through a generous financial contribution today?
