Dear Friend, Donald Trump just admitted that if he’s reelected, he will cut Social Security. While speaking to a reporter at the annual World Economic Forum conference of global elites in Davos, Trump openly admitted that he's planning to cut Social Security, as well as Medicaid and Medicare—possibly right after the election.1 In fact, he’s already started. His administration has announced a plan that would end $2.6 billion in benefits for hundreds of thousands of people on Social Security disability.2 We launched a major public push to sound the alarm about Trump’s plans to slash Social Security before it’s too late. Will you donate $5? Yes, I’ll donate to help stop Trump’s attack on Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. With any other president, this would have been a bombshell controversy that would have killed their approval rating. But with Trump, the media almost totally ignored it. The Trump administration’s plan calls for major new efforts to cut off Social Security benefits for people with disabilities. Experts say it’s easily foreseeable that hundreds of thousands of people will lose their benefits—which means people will die.3 In 2017 alone, 10,000 people died waiting to be approved for disability benefits.4 That number will explode under Trump’s plan. Trump also just announced a plan to allow states to cut Medicaid. This could lower benefits for 70 million poor Americans who can’t get health care anywhere else.5 Republicans have been pushing to end Social Security for decades—literally since the day it was signed into law. Trump promised voters in 2016 that he wouldn’t do that. Now, once again, we know he lied. Trump is attacking our most vulnerable populations, and we have to stop him. Social Security has always been the "third rail" of politics. But the media isn’t telling this story to the public, so we have to spread the word and stop him now. We’re fighting back to stop Trump’s attack on Social Security. Will you donate $5? Yes, I’ll donate $5 to help save Social Security. Thanks for standing with us. Robert Cruickshank, Sources: 1.
