GOPAC has announced its 2023 Class of Emerging Leaders, and included on
that list, is NYS Senator Dean Murray (R, C - East Patchogue). GOPAC is a
national organization "committed to identifying the next generation of
Republican leaders." In a class of only 28 legislators, Senator Murray is
the lone legislator chosen from the entire Northeast Region of the United
States.

The prestigious GOPAC Emerging Leaders Program is a year-long initiative to
educate the next generation of Republican legislators. The program equips
these legislators with information to help them legislate effectively and
ultimately achieve leadership roles within their state or run for higher
office. Our 2023 class of Emerging Leaders is the next installment in our
mission to build a roster of State Republicans who are focused on ideas to
advance Americans' personal and economic security," said GOPAC Chairman
David Avella. [1]Read more

Republican Legislators In Texas And Florida Take On Public Universities

Forbes | Christopher Rim

April 26, 2023

Last week, Republican lawmakers in Texas and Florida made significant gains
in their efforts to increase governmental oversight at public institutions
of higher learning. On April 20th, the Texas Senate passed Texas Senate
Bill 18 (SB 18), which will eliminate tenure for professors at public
colleges and universities in the state hired after January 1, 2024.
Additionally, following months of debate, Florida House Bill 999 has
advanced through the House Education and Employment Committee and has been
revised to mirror the same DEI-eliminating legislation going through the
Florida Senate. [3]Read more

2024 Republican hopefuls set to meet with Iowa evangelicals

The Faith and Freedom Coalition event gives presidential prospects a chance
to make their pitch to evangelicals in a state where the GOP will kick off
the nominating process next year.

NBCNews.com | The Associated Press

April 22, 2023

Des Moines, Iowa - Republican White House hopefuls are courting influential
religious conservatives at an event in Iowa that marks the unofficial start
of the state's 2024 caucus campaign.

The Iowa Faith and Freedom Coalition's annual spring fundraiser on Saturday
evening is attracting, among others, former President Donald Trump, who's
already a candidate, as well as former Vice President Mike Pence and U.S.
Senator Tim Scott of South Carolina, who are expected to enter the race.
Trump is to appear via video. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, considered a top
rival to Trump, is not attending.

The event hosted by a Christian group gives the presidential prospects the
chance to make their pitch to evangelicals in a state where Republicans
will kick off the nominating process next year. It's also a shot at making
an impression on activists who may be open to an alternative to Trump at a
time when he is mired in legal problems and was recently charged in New
York in a hush-money scheme involving a porn actor. [4]Read more

Frontline House Republicans dominate Democrats in early fundraising

House GOP's money machine: Q1 fundraising amounts among U.S.
representatives in competitive districts

Axios| Josh Kraushaar, Andrew Solender

April 21, 2023

House Republicans in competitive districts dominated their Democratic
counterparts in fundraising during the first three months of 2023,
according to an Axios analysis.

Why it matters: Republicans have an early financial edge as they seek to
expand their narrow majority and defend nearly 20 seats that went for
President Biden in 2020.

By the numbers: Out of the 39 House incumbents whose seats are rated as
either "toss-up" or "lean" by Cook Political Report, 17 of the top 20
fundraisers in the first quarter were Republicans. [5]Read more
