Another great thing about Delaney & Bonnie was that it led directly to Eric Clapton forming Derek and the Dominos in 1970. Soon after the Dominos came together they recorded “Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs.” In addition to Clapton and band members Bobby Whitlock (keyboards and vocals), bassist Carl Radle and drummer Jim Gordon, the album recording featured a special guest on most tracks—Duane Allman on lead and slide guitar. Simply put, it is some of the greatest Southern Rock ever recorded. |
