Friend, we are in danger of losing 80% of greenhouse gas reductions. If the U.S. doesn’t build new transmission lines to move clean energy from open spaces where it’s produced to cities where it’s more used, that could very well happen.
Red tape from a maze of permitting processes is slowing down the approval for these clean energy transmission lines. And House Republicans are doing the OPPOSITE of addressing this.
Their top priority is “basically a laundry list written by fossil fuel industry lobbyists” to double down on dirty energy, as Congressman Mike Levin said at our Town Hall earlier this month.
House Republicans are actually trying to make the permitting process easier only for pipelines that carry fossil fuels. Which is what clean energy is supposed to be replacing! We can’t afford to stall our transition to a clean energy economy. Sign on to tell Congress: Permitting reform must benefit clean energy only.

Hi friend,
Californians are so committed to a green energy transition that we’ve sent our representatives to Congress to pass HISTORIC investments in clean energy — the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) and Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA).
But now comes an equally important and often understated step: implementation. After these huge federal investments have passed, it’s time now to make sure the money is actually going to the right projects and the communities that need it. Proper transmission line infrastructure is an essential aspect of the clean energy implementation process. Essentially, we need to get electricity from where it's produced to where it's actually used. If we fail to streamline our transmission lines, a recent study showed the U.S. could potentially lose 80% of the greenhouse gas reductions we’ve created!
Let’s not waste the clean energy we create. Sign this petition to tell Congress: We need to streamline the creation of transmission infrastructure NOW >> |

Because of a confusing maze of federal, state, and local permitting processes, progress on transmitting clean energy is extremely slow.
And some members of Congress are actively trying to make the situation worse by making permitting easier for fossil fuel pipelines, as the House recently passed H.R. 1 to speed up oil and gas production.
There are real stakes in our climate future, but Republicans in the House would rather work to make corporate polluters richer.
Tell Congress: Permits should only go towards clean energy transmission, NOT more fossil fuel pipelines
Our representatives need to know that their constituents are serious about meeting big clean energy goals. We will not tolerate our clean energy investments going to waste! Thank you for taking action.
