BuildForce
Buildforce Canada will release the results of its annual 2023-2032 Construction and Maintenance Looking Forward report for British Columbia on Friday.
These reports help decision makers to anticipate labour force requirements and identify the trades and occupations the industry is most likely to need across a 10-year forecast scenario. Every year, BuildForce Canada generates Construction and Maintenance Looking Forward highlights reports for each province and for Canada’s territories.
In addition to a full analysis of British Columbia’s construction sector as a whole, the report also includes a detailed look at two key provincial sub-markets: the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island. Both have their own unique market conditions.

Day of Mourning is a day to Reflect on People Who Lost Their Lives on the Job
WorkSafeBC
Every year, on April 28, workers, families, employers, and others come together at events held around the province to remember those who have lost their lives on the job, and to renew our commitment to creating safer workplaces.
Workplace injuries and illnesses claimed the lives of 181 B.C. workers last year, with more than half (107) of the work-related deaths the result of occupational disease — 67 were the result of exposure to asbestos, with many exposures happening decades earlier.
Every injury, disease, or death serves as a powerful reminder that employers have an important responsibility to ensure that all workplaces in B.C. are healthy and safe.
Events are taking place across BC tomorrow and a list of ceremonies is available on the Day of Mourning website.
