Border Security Bill Would Stop Surge of Child Trafficking

Dear John,

Here at NumbersUSA, we oppose any form of illegal immigration. For many reasons, we believe we must restore the rule of law. But if I'm going to discuss the harms of the Biden administration's war on immigration enforcement during our match campaign, there's one issue I feel I can't simply put aside for a later time: Child trafficking.

The New York Times has been reporting how, since Pres. Biden took office, more than a quarter of a million children have been brought into America illegally, often without their parents.

"Thousands of children have ended up in punishing jobs across the country — working overnight in slaughterhouses, replacing roofs, operating machinery in factories — all in violation of child labor laws, a recent Times investigation showed... [A]ll along, there were signs of the explosive growth of this labor force and warnings that the Biden administration ignored or missed, The Times has found."

-- Hannah Dreier, New York Times, Apr 17, 2023

The Biden administration responded by talking tough about cracking down on such abuses. Yet with the administration enabling tens of thousands of children to pour into America alone, who can take such talk seriously?

Please, John, don't look away. There is something you can do about this. Reports are circulating that the House of Representatives will vote on the Border Security and Enforcement Act 2023 (H.R. 2640) this coming month. We need your help to make sure it passes, despite the fact that Republicans hold only a razor-thin majority. And then we'll need further help to get it passed in the Senate and signed into law by the President.

We know this isn't going to be easy. We may end up simply ensuring that such a bill passes as soon as a new President takes office. Even so, we're going to need some Democratic support.

We're going to be asking what difference minimum wage and worker safety laws make, if employees have an endless supply of illegal laborers.

How can we preserve open spaces, and meet environmental goals, with an artificially exploding population?

How can we stop the epidemic of opium-related deaths that has drastically lowered Americans' life expectancy, if drugs continue pouring across our border?

How can we leave no child behind in our schools, when so many illegal alien children are being denied an education and instead are exploited by working in dangerous jobs?

There are so many facets to this issue that we should be able to speak to the concerns of Democrats and Republicans alike in a truly bipartisan manner.

But in the end, we need our supporters to take our case to the people and to Washington. We're not going to be able to do any of this without you.

Fortunately, a few wealthy individuals have pledged a total of $200,000 for a $400,000, 2-for-1 match campaign.

If you donate $25, we'll get $50!

If you donate $100, we'll get $200!

Even if you donated $1,000, we'd get $2,000!

So if you've been waiting for the best time to give... Now is a GREAT time. Please give today.
