Dear John,
President Biden nominated Julie Su to serve in his cabinet as the next US Secretary of Labor because she is a civil rights attorney with a long record of support for workers rights.
Will you take two minutes to send a quick message to your Senators urging them to confirm Julie Su for Secretary of Labor? Your voice matters. [[link removed]]

Julie Su has been the Deputy Secretary of Labor since 2021, and previous to that, she led California’s state Department of Labor. Su could not be more qualified or better prepared for the job of Secretary of Labor, and she deserves to be confirmed by the Senate.
Here’s the problem: Some Democratic senators have failed to express support for Su’s nomination. (Yes, Joe Manchin is one of the senators on the fence, but it’s not just him.)
Basically, what it comes down to is that corporate lobbyists from some of the most exploitative industries in the nation have been mounting a massive campaign to oppose Su’s confirmation because they’re worried she’ll do too much to support workers rights .
Corporate execs are worried she’s so well-qualified and so well-prepared for the job that she’ll be maybe a little bit toooo effective at fulfilling the Department’s mission. And if you make your money on greed and exploitation, of course, you don’t want someone in the top job at the Labor Department who has such a strong record of enforcing workplace safety standards, preventing wage theft, and creating good-paying, high-quality jobs. Much better for you to have a less effective leader and a less effective agency.
Yes, that’s entirely ridiculous. But that’s what the big-money campaign against Su is all about, and it’s having an impact in Washington DC right now. Whether your Senators are Democrats, Republicans, or independents, they are hearing from lobbyists every day who are trying to sink this confirmation.
So now your Senators need to hear from you too. Take two minutes to send a quick message to your Senators urging them to confirm Julie Su for Secretary of Labor. [[link removed]]

As Secretary of Labor, Su would be responsible for overseeing a wide range of programs and policies that affect workers across the United States. From ensuring workplace safety to training workers for the jobs of the future, Su's leadership would be critical to protecting the rights of workers and strengthening our economy.
Your voice can make a difference in this critical moment. Help us ensure that workers across the country have the leadership they need and deserve in the Labor Department.
