Friend,
For those of you still awake, you know what we know: zero percent of Iowa precincts are reporting at 1am ET, and the results of the Iowa caucuses remain in the air. But by all accounts, Pete Buttigieg appears to have had an extremely strong night – and we are very much on our way to electing the first openly gay president in American history.
As Pete said from his campaign headquarters moments ago:
“I believe in American belonging because of an experience you are part of right here tonight. Looking out at you and remembering how it felt to be an Indiana teenager, wondering if he would ever belong in this world. Wondering if something deep inside him meant that he would forever be an outsider, that he might never wear the uniform, never be accepted, never even know love. And now that same person is standing in front of you a mayor, a veteran, happily married, and one step closer to becoming president of the United States.”
Will you celebrate this historic moment with a donation of $20 or more to support our efforts to elect Pete and other LGBTQ candidates? [[link removed]]

Pete almost certainly will receive a post-Iowa bump that will propel him into New Hampshire and beyond. His campaign is more than 500 people strong with robust infrastructures in key primary states that can lead him to victory. Despite competing against some of the best-known names in American politics, Pete is shattering expectations and building support every step of the way. Help us keep the momentum going with a donation of $20 or more to celebrate this historic campaign. Your support can help Pete and other LGBTQ candidates cross the finish line. [[link removed]]
Today Pete made history in becoming the first openly LGBTQ person to run a competitive presidential race in Iowa. Whether Pete is your first choice for president or not, it is a revolution in American politics that forever transforms what is considered possible for an LGBTQ candidate. It is a moment to celebrate.
Let the journey continue.

We believe representation is power – so we elected U.S. Senators Tammy Baldwin and Kyrsten Sinema, Governors Jared Polis and Kate Brown, all seven LGBTQ members of U.S. Congress and countless candidates for state and local government, including Virginia Delegate Danica Roem, Colorado state Representative Leslie Herod and Pennsylvania Assemblymember Brian Sims. And with an unprecedented number of LGBTQ people running for office in this year, we’ll need your support to make 2020 the next Rainbow Wave. This email was sent to [email protected].
