Hi John,
Huge news! Greenpeace lawyers have made a big step forward in their case against the UK Government, and I couldn't be prouder. Why?
Because yesterday, the government’s reckless plans to unleash a new drilling frenzy in the North Sea faced a real setback thanks to our legal team. A judge has given us permission to challenge the government’s approval of the new oil and gas licensing round in court. [1]
This is a major setback for the government, and a testament to what we can achieve. Donations from people concerned about the future of our planet like you have gotten us this far. Can you chip in to our Fossil Fuel Legal Fund? We need to raise £60,000 to take this case forward, and to be ready to challenge the government any time they unlawfully approve new fossil fuel projects—it’ll take just 2 minutes:

We've seen some incredible victories in the courtroom recently, and it's proof that when we stand up for what's right, together we can make a difference. The Pacific nation of Vanuatu pushed the United Nations to take climate justice to the world’s highest court, forcing governments to consider the human rights impacts of their climate policies. [2] In Germany, young climate activists challenged the government over their vague climate action plans and won. [3]
But this fight is far from over, and we can't let our guard down. We can't let the government push ahead with plans to open new oil and gas in the North Sea, because it would be a disaster for the climate. And what’s more, it won’t do a thing to bring our energy bills down—for that we need more homegrown renewables!

So let's stand together and demand that our government take immediate action to stop all new oil and gas. Please help us keep up the fight in the courtroom by donating today.
In solidarity,
Miranda and the UK Climate Team
