John, BREAKING: Minnesota has just become the first state in the nation to pass legislation prohibiting foreign-influenced corporations from spending money in elections. The bill now moves to the Governor’s desk who has pledged to sign it into law. The Democracy for the People Act includes a provision that prohibits multinational corporations from spending money directly or giving it to a super PAC or other entity to spend in Minnesota state or local elections. We know this is just the beginning. This legislation, based on the model we successfully passed in Seattle, is already under consideration in Hawaii, California, Washington, New York, and Massachusetts, as well as the U.S. House of Representatives. Will you donate today to help us get foreign corporate money out of U.S. elections once and for all? |
