Friends, July was a busy month for Stand with Parkland - The National Association of Families for Safe Schools. Last week, Stand with Parkland members appeared before a U.S. Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs. Founding members Tom Hoyer and Max Schachter spoke to the panel of senators during a hearing on enhancing school safety. Chairman Johnson of Senate Government Affairs Committee speaks with Stand with Parkland founding members Tom Hoyer and Max Schachter prior to their testimony before the committee. Thanks to Chairman Johnson and Ranking Member Peters for holding the hearing on school safety. Stand with Parkland President Tony Montalto and Treasurer Tom Hoyer spoke with the media upon the conclusion of the hearing. Legislation was introduced earlier this month aimed at helping to prevent future school shootings by expanding the U.S. Secret Service’s National Threat Assessment Center with a greater focus on school violence prevention. The National Threat Assessment Center has been essential to thwarting mass shooters and targeted violence since it was first created in 2008. The EAGLES Act is a critical expansion of the program that prioritizes research into the origins of targeted violence and directs key funding to prevent the next mass school shooting. We hope that you will consider honoring the lives lost by wearing your support of Stand with Parkland proudly. Show others you support making schools across America safer for students and teachers. Proceeds will go directly back into our work fighting for school safety. Shop t-shirts, sweatshirts, and tanks in our store! While we’re hard at work advocating for policy and pushing forward real change in states and school districts, we’re also fundraising to support this work. All our best, -- the Parkland families
