With military emissions and environmental devastation on the rise in Ukraine, we knew this Earth Day had to be different. 



We raised up diplomacy across the country with our peace and climate partners that know that fighting for environmental justice means ending war. We are making it known that our success as movements are dependent on each other. We made our message clear: WAR IS NOT GREEN!



In DC, we rallied in the sun and marched through a storm with more than 1,000 people fighting for climate justice across different movement spaces. We educated folks by emphasizing the Pentagon's nearly $1 trillion budget and how it could fund a just transition instead. 







In LA, Jodie Evans and local CODEPINKers went to Hyperion Water Reclamation plant in Playa Del Rey. We also brought “War Is Not Green” to the LA Earth Day Youth Climate Summit with the Youth Climate Strike LA, and learned so much from Indigenous and Black organizers who led workshops on land back and environmental justice. 







In New York, CODEPINKers partnered with Rave Revolution and danced in an all-day anti-war party takeover of Union Square Park! Alongside Extinction Rebellion, Fridays for Future, the Bronx Anti-War Coalition, and many other movement leaders, we boogied with signs calling for an end to war and fossil fuels. With energizing speeches coupled with the sweet stylings of some of the funkiest DJs in the biz, it was a celebratory protest to remember. 







In San Francisco, we simply couldn’t get enough of Earth Day. For three days straight, we partnered with local climate leaders to demand peace for the planet! We marched with Youth Versus Apocalypse, performed a skit at SF’s Earth Day Fest, and shared WING flyers at the People’s Earth Day for Water Justice. We’re especially proud of our new CODEPINK community members who worked so hard to bring WING to our local Earth Day.







CODEPINK also celebrated Earth Day in Boston, across the Midwest, and even in London, England! 



And earlier today, we delivered our Earth Day letter on Ukraine to Congress that was signed by major climate groups calling for diplomacy to save the planet. 







Our work for environmental justice is reaching new heights – and it doesn't stop here.
