Dear John,
This is our chance to protect the Maine we all love — and we need your help again.
First, the bad news: Last year, the legislature failed to pass a land bond bill to fund the wildly popular Land for Maine's Future program, which has helped to permanently protect close to 600,000 acres of some of Maine's most beautiful public lands, farmland, and working waterfronts — click here [[link removed]] to see a map of LMF funded projects near you.
Now, the good news: The legislature has carried the bill over to the 2020 session, which means we are doubling down on our efforts to push our lawmakers to finally pass this bond and send it to voters. But we know it won't be easy.
Right now, LMF is caught up in Augusta politics, and only an outcry from constituents to their legislators can elevate it above the fray. Will you take two minutes to send a note to your lawmakers urging them to fund this important program? This bill, LD 911, would send a $40 million bond for LMF and a $20 million bond to support Maine State Parks to voters in November. This much-needed funding will ensure Maine can continue protecting our state's natural resources and help tackle the $50 million backlog of basic infrastructure maintenance to help revitalize our state parks.
It's time for the political games to end. Mainers overwhelmingly support LMF — and that's why your legislators need to hear directly from you. Please click here to send a quick note to your legislators telling them how important LMF is to you. [[link removed]]
Thank you for speaking out.
