Daily Docket - Wednesday, April 26
Here are some updates from today.
The Florida Senate passed an omnibus elections bill by a party-line vote of 28-12. Ron DeSantis (R). [link removed]
The League of Women Voters of Florida and the Florida State Conference of the NAACP filed a lawsuit challenging Florida’s voter registration application. The plaintiffs argue that the form’s lack of information regarding eligibility, especially as it pertains to returning citizens (those with past felony convictions), violates the National Voter Registration Act. Here are some updates you may have missed.
In a win for voters, a federal judge ruled that a case challenging Dodge City, Kansas' at-large system for city commissioner elections will move forward, and that there is a private right of action under Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act. [link removed]
Here’s what to expect coming up.
A Pennsylvania court will hold a hearing about dismissing a lawsuit in Lycoming County brought by a right-wing group challenging the results of the November 2020 general election (that year is not a typo). [link removed]
