Attacks on reproductive freedom are escalating, so we need to take action.
Folks —
Last week, the Supreme Court blocked a Trump-appointed federal judge in Texas who tried to heavily restrict access to mifepristone, a safe and effective medication abortion pill. But it’s not enough — because access to lifesaving reproductive care should never be up for debate.
When the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, millions of women lost the Constitutionally guaranteed right to choose — and mifepristone has been central to that right for over 20 years.
This action by the Supreme Court is a huge relief. But attacks on reproductive freedom are escalating – and show no sign of letting up. That’s why we must do everything we can to protect women seeking care now.
The WHPA would finally codify Roe v. Wade into federal law, guarantee equal access to abortion across the nation, and protect against future challenges from Republican-held state legislatures.
And our Protecting Access to Medication Abortion Act would make the FDA’s approval of mifepristone permanent and protect access to medication abortion nationwide.
I’ll be frank: Getting these bills across the finish line won’t be an easy feat. But we can show my colleagues that our commitment to protecting women’s freedom and dignity is rock-solid — and that makes a huge difference.
