Fox “News” has agreed to pay Dominion Voting Systems more than $780 million in a settlement of the lawsuit over Fox News’ 2020 election deceit.1 But to reduce their toxic role in our country’s politics, we need more than one lawsuit. We need to upend their entire business model. Fox takes a cut of monthly subscriber fees from the cable companies who carry their channel, and those fees are what’s keeping Fox afloat.
That’s right: As a consumer, you may unknowingly help pay for Fox News to compromise our election and air lies.
We don’t want to pay for Fox News' manipulation, lies, and lack of evidence. Join us to put pressure on cable service CEOs to make the channel optional for all of us who still believe in democracy and truth.
If cable providers dropped Fox News—or allowed viewers to opt out of Fox News in their cable package—it would defund this source of hate, racism, and lies.
Now is the time. In the coming months and years, a slew of these deals between Fox and cable providers are expected to be renegotiated.2 We need to act now before it’s too late.

The Dominion settlement means that we won’t get to see Fox executives like Rupert Murdoch and Tucker Carlson take the stand in this trial; what happens in courtrooms and board rooms may not be up to us. But we can do our part to make sure that $780 million is the beginning and not the end of the cost that Fox pays for damaging our democracy.
