Associated Press:
“The U.S. is setting a record pace for mass killings in 2023, replaying the horror on a loop roughly once a week so far this year.”
John, America has a gun violence problem.
Week after week, kids are murdered in their schools or at birthday parties or because they knocked on the wrong door. There have been more mass shootings in the United States in 2023 than there have been days this year.
It has to stop.
As governor, I’ve called repeatedly for commonsense measures to reduce gun violence in North Carolina. I also join President Biden in support of a new national ban on assault weapons.
If you agree that we need to ban these weapons of war, add your name to my petition here >>>
All too often, mass shootings involve AR-15-style weapons or other assault weapons that have no place on our streets. And we already know how to keep them from harming our people.
The evidence is clear: When the 1994 assault weapons ban was in effect, deaths from mass shootings fell. When it expired, they rose sharply.
Americans are being murdered in their homes, in houses of worship, in shopping malls, and in schools. We have to end the violence. Sign on here to join my call for a new assault weapons ban >>>
Thank you,
Roy
