We hope you had a peaceful and reflective Ramadan. Our team spent the month connecting with community members, partners, and elected officials across the country. Here are a few of the many events we hosted or took part in:
Emgage Florida attended a talk with Imam Siraj Wahhaj at Masjid Omar Al-Farooq in Heathrow.
Emgage New York Metro attended the New York Governor’s iftar. In her remarks, Governor Kathy Hochul thanked New York Metro Senior Advisor Dr. Debbie Almontaser.
Emgage Pennsylvania’s Executive Director Salima Suswell emceed the Philadelphia iftar at City Hall, which was attended by community members and elected officials including Secretary of Policy and Planning for Governor Shapiro, Akbar Hossain, Senator Sharif Street, Chairman of the Pennsylvania Democratic Party, and more.
And in Virginia, our chapter hosted an iftar that was attended by Commonwealth Attorneys Steve Descano and Buta Biberaj. It was a night filled with great conversations around criminal justice reform and how to continue to build toward a more equitable and safe commonwealth.
