I wanted to keep you up-to-date on what’s happening in Washington with the border security package.
Before it goes to a vote on the House floor, the House Judiciary Committee has held a markup of the legislation. House Judiciary Democrats attempted to use this process to amend, weaken, and remove key aspects of a conservative border package. We worked ahead of time to ensure Republicans would reject these efforts and pass a strong bill through the Judiciary Committee, which they did.
I’m working to ensure committee conservatives remain committed to fighting for robust border security measures to help our country regain operational control at the border and protect American sovereignty.
Under no circumstances should a border package include any so-called compromise solutions that end in amnesty or continue the Biden administration's mass release of illegal aliens. I AGREE
Next steps >>> The House Homeland Security Committee is meeting today to mark up and vote on their portion of the border security package. Then, the full House should vote and pass one combined and very robust package to secure the border—because that’s what the American people sent them to Washington to do!
From the beginning, Heritage Action and a coalition of border security experts have established a strong policy roadmap for House conservatives as they tackle the issue.
